Welcome!

Welcome to the Sweet Home High School collection blog! This page was created to show off some of the great things a student can find in the library at our school.

The purpose of this page is to inform parents and students of what books we can offer, our goal is to get as many students interested in reading as possible. Many students find themselves in the library to do homework and projects, glossing over the books that we have on our shelf.  We want these student to know what they are missing out of.

Of course our targeted audience are that of the students in the school.  With the invention of the smart phone and social networking, access to online videos and games, it is getting increasingly harder to get young adults to read.  We want to get as many teens interested in reading as possible

The first step towards this goal is to create this blog as a form of communication that many students can easily access. Next we will periodically talk about what books we currently have.  Popular titles, Genres, specific authors etc.  As more and more start to read this blog, they will become more informed of what we have and will eventually start checking some of our recommendations out at the circulation desk.

Our final product from these steps is an improvement on the amount of books that are being circulated through our library each week and having more students want to read as opposed to being forced into reading through their classes.

Now on to the first blog post.

Did you know our library has an extensive mystery collection?

Recently I did a count per mystery and crime author and how many books we have by that particular author. Here is a list of them

Agatha Christie-12 Books
John Grisham-21 books
Dashiell Hammett-1 book
James Patterson-13 books
Clive Cussler-3 books
Patricia Cornwell-12 books
Mary Higgins Clark-23 books
Carolyn Keene (Nancy Drew novels)-5 books
Michael Chrichton-9 books

I also counted a few Sherlock Holmes anthologies as well as 2 anthologies of the best American Mystery short stories from 1999 and 2000.

Happy Reading.
